Combinatorial Structures in Bioinformatics (2S)

392173 Stoye Summer 2026 Wednesday 10-12 in U10-155

Short Description

We will study various combinatorial results and data structures that occur in bioinformatics research. Typical examples are strings, trees and sequences, index data structures and graphs modeling biological phenomena, such as metabolic networks or protein structures. We will read textbook chapters, reviews and original research papers. Each topic will be presented by a student in a seminar talk, for which also practical experience shall be collected and reported. The presentation will conclude in a written summary of the findings (in German or English).
